 - Fatima Ribadu has apologized over her choice of dress for her wedding ceremony - Recall the daughter of former EFCC boss, Nuhu Ribadu wedded former vice president, Atiku Abubakar's son recently

 - The nature of her wedding gown, however, caused a stir on social media amongst conservative Muslims

 - In a post shared to her Instastory, Fatima apologised for 'causing her family and friends dismay

Fatima Ribadu, the daughter of former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss, Nuhu Ribadu, has taken to social media to apologise to her family and friends over the backlash her choice of wedding gown attracted. Over the weekend, Fatima had tied the knot with the son of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar's son, Aliyu, and the event which took place in Abuja was graced by dignitaries.

However, her wedding gown seemed to attract a lot of side talks on social media due to the nature of the design. Fatima rocked a lacey mermaid-like dress with a sheer fabric - the shade of her skin - underneath the lace.

For many people, the design was not befitting of a Muslim bride who is expected to cover up for her ceremony. This earned her criticisms on social media and for that, Fatima has taken to her Instagram page to apologise. In a note shared to her Instagram story which was restricted to close friends, the beautiful newlywed explained the nature of the dress, stating that the underdress was mistaken for her skin. She, however, apologized for causing her family and friends dismay.
