BREAKING NEWS: NIN to become compulsory requirement for obtaining drivers license, FRSC says

- By the second quarter of 2021, anyone without NIN will not be able to apply for drivers license - This is in line with the latest directive from the Federal Road Safety Corps's Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi - According to Oyeyemi, the directive does not exclude anyone no matter their social status The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced that the National Identification Number (NIN) will become a compulsory requirement for obtaining a drivers license, starting from the second quarter of 2021 It was reported that this was disclosed vi a a statement released by the FRSC spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem. Quoting the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, the FRSC spokesperson said the new development was in compliance with presidential directives. He said all applicants for vehicle registration must provide NIN as a precondition for the registration of their vehicles, adding that there would be no waiver for anyone regardless of their status in the society. Kazeem noted that the move is to resolve the challenges of identifying individuals to assist security agencies in data collation. He called on members of the public who have not enrolled in the ongoing NIN registration at the National Identity Management Commission to do so.
